Welcome to Pause. By downloading, installing, or using the Pause app ("the app", "we", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Pause is a voice journaling app that allows you to record spoken reflections, which are transcribed into text and stored locally on your device. The app includes daily reflection prompts, folder organisation, data export, and optional premium features available through a paid subscription.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Pause. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent.
You sign in to Pause using your Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials. We are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from unauthorised access to your account.
Free trial. New users receive a 14-day free trial with full access to all features including voice dictation. After the trial ends, voice dictation requires an active subscription. You can continue to browse and read your existing entries without a subscription.
Subscription. Pause offers an annual subscription at $10/year (USD), billed through the Apple App Store. The subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Managing your subscription. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings (Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Refunds. All payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be made through Apple's support channels in accordance with Apple's refund policy.
You retain full ownership of all journal entries, voice recordings, and any other content you create using Pause ("Your Content"). We do not claim any rights to Your Content.
Your Content is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to, and cannot retrieve, Your Content. You are responsible for backing up your data. If you delete the app or your device, Your Content will be permanently lost unless you have exported it.

When you use the voice dictation feature, your audio is sent to our transcription service for real-time processing. By using voice dictation, you consent to this temporary processing. Audio is not stored or retained after transcription is complete. Transcription accuracy may vary and we do not guarantee perfect results.
The Pause app, including its design, code, graphics, daily prompts, affirmations, and other original content, is owned by Pause and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the app without our written permission.
Pause is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee the accuracy of voice transcriptions.
Pause is a journaling tool and is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pause and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Since your journal entries are stored locally on your device, we cannot recover lost data. We strongly recommend using the export feature regularly to back up your entries. We are not responsible for any data loss resulting from device failure, app deletion, or other causes beyond our control.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device and cancelling any active subscription.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles.
